Welcome to the Black Parade

Description

When I was a young boy
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band
He said, "Son, when you grow up
Would you be the savior of the broken
The beaten and the damned?”

He said, "Will you defeat them
Your demons and all the non-believers
The plans that they have made?
Because one day, I'll leave you
A phantom to lead you in the summer
To join the Black Parade"

This song always reminds me of Jace's relationship with Valentine, and the way he was treated by his dad as a kid. The words can be kind of hard to hear sometimes, but if you look them up on Google they make more sense in relation to Jace and his father.

I think it really captures the side of him that's defeated and that pins everyone's problems on himself. He has a really dark part of him buried beneath the surface that's always going to be deeply wounded by the way he was raised and the way his upbringing causes him to look at himself now.

I could go on all day about Jace's self-destructive moody funks that make me want to reach inside my book and give him a big bear hug and cry into his shirt and tell him it's all gonna be okay, but that'd probably get annoying, so I'll just say I wanted him to look angry at his daddy. Hope it worked.
Bye! :)
